Latest IT products on display as BITEX officially opens

Yesterday morning saw the official opening of the five-day BITEX IT Trade Fair at the Atrium Hall at The Mall in Gadong. The guest of honour was Pehin Major General (R) Dato Awang Haji Mohammad Haji Daud, the Chairman of Brunei Economic Development Board.

Over 15 local companies are taking part in the BITEX that will run until Thursday (5th August), including the Ministry of Communications to promote the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2004.

The BITEX which is open from 10am until 10pm showcases the latest in IT and IT-related products in the country such as personal computers (PC), lap-tops, servers, computer peripherals, computer accessories as well as computer courses, computer loan services, and many IT solutions. Visitors can purchase these products at special prices.

There is also free wireless Internet access provided for visitors during the trade fair, which is being sponsored by Primatel.

The event is organised by the Brunei Darussalam Computer Society (PKBD), a non-profit organisation with its community centred purpose to showcase the latest technology and products in Information and Communication Technology.
