His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office presented awards and prizes to the winners of the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2005 at a ceremony held at the International Convention Centre, Berakas, yesterday evening.
 
Accompanying The Crown Prince was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik.

Upon arrival, the royal guests were greeted by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abu Bakar Bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Communications, Dato Paduka Haji Yusof Bin Haji Abdul Hamid, the Deputy Minister of Communications as well as the Permanent Secretary of Communications and other senior officials of BICTA 2005 organising committee.

Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abu Bakar Bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Communications in his welcoming speech said that BICTA Awards have become a platform to inspire innovations, creativity and excellence in the field of ICT among individuals, Local ICT Small and Medium Enterprise entrepreneurs and Educational institutions.

The Minister of Communications disclosed that this year, a total of 40 participants have been accepted to compete in 13 out of 16 categories namely e-government and public services, education and training, secondary student project, tourism and hospitality, media and entertainment, communications, health, security, application and infrastructure tools, general applications, start up company, primary student project and tertiary student project. To encourage establishment of new companies, one new category has been introduced namely the 'Start up company'.

Besides the encouraging response of participants, the content and quality of the ICT projects have also increased. And half of the participants for this year's BICTA come from students from primary level, secondary level, higher learning institutions, technical and vocational schools, he added

Aside from grabbing home $1,000, trophy and plaque for the winners of each categories, they (winners) will also be representing Brunei Darussalam at Asia Pacific ICT Awards 2005 scheduled for February 2006.

Minister of Communications congratulated the winners at the end of his speech.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office who is also the Royal Patron of BICTA consented to present awards and prizes to the winners of the Brunei ICT Award (BICTA) 2005.

The winners are as follows: CfBT education services (B) Sdn Bhd with their project "Asean Multimedia English" emerged as winner in the education & training category, Teleconsult Sdn Bhd with their project "e-Plato Communicator" took home first place in the Communications Application category, Dalplus Technologies with their project "Dog Fighter" become the winner in the Media and Entertainment category, e-Suria Mentari System with the project " e-Suria Website content management" came out first in the Applications and infrastructure tools category, i-Pixel studio with their project " i-Pixel studio video profile" emerged winner in the Start up Companies category, Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal with their project " Programmable Machine Control System grabbed first place in the Tertiary students project, Khairunnisaa Saaniah Haji Kamsan and Enita Wardhana Ismuadi with their project "PSR Web based interactive Exam" took home the winning trophy in the Secondary Student Project category and lastly Sekolah Rendah Amar Pahlawan, Brunei II with their project " Living Things - Animals" emerged the winner in the Primary student project category.

While The recipients special mentions of BICTA 2005 went to: AV electronics Pte Ltd with their project "AVTS" in the Education and training category, Dr Md Mahmud Hasan with "PC based Electro diagram (ECG) recorder as internet home appliance", Teleconsult Sdn Bhd with "e- Plato health ware" in the Healthcare category, Teleconsult Sdn Bhd with "e- Plato" in the E-Government and Services category, Dalplus Technologies with their project "DalplusAnti Spyware" in the security category, Dalplus Technologies with their project " Bruclass Auctions" in the General Applications category, Cyber Kampong for their project "Tourism Brunei 2005" in the Tourism and Hospitality category, Pg Hj Asmali Pg Badarudin with his project "Multi Purpose Reverse Auction" in the Start up companies category, Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijak for their project "Brunei Tourism" and Institut Teknologi Brunei for their project "Multi Sensor security system" in the Tertiary students project category and finally Boon Siew Mai (Chung Hwa Middle School) with project " Bubble POP!".

After the presentation of awards and prizes for BICTA 2005, The Crown Prince proceeded to receive a Pesambah from Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abu Bakar Bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Communications.

The BICTA 2005 and its associated events are organised by the Ministry of Communications with the support of the Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AiTi), Brunei Darussalam Information Technology Council (BIT) and the Brunei Darussalam Computer Society (PKBD).
